I was there, and then I was not. {Poem}

I was there, and then I was not.

I was lost, and then I was not.

I loved you, and then I did not.

Waves caressed my toes, and the breeze tickled my back.

I was in the South, but I took to the North.

The west called my name, but the East was home.

I was there, and then I was not.

I was lost, and then I was not.

I loved you, and then I did not.

You were my best friend, I thought my one true confidant.

I had followed you everywhere, the blind leading the blind.

I traced your every outline in my mind, but then I had forgot.

I loved you, and then I did not.

I was lost, and then I was not.

I was there, and then I was not.
